This tragic number stands in stark contrast to the goals of Vision Zero, launched ten years ago with the promise of reducing traffic fatalities to zero by 2025. Instead, the program\u2019s core components were weakened, underfunded, or removed \u2014 contributing to an 80% increase in traffic deaths over the past decade, disproportionately affecting pedestrians in underserved communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the Die\u2011In Represents<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>A die\u2011in is a form of protest where participants lie down as if dead \u2014 a visual representation of the lives lost to traffic violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SAFE and its partners aim to gather 250 participants, symbolizing each life lost in 2025. LA Critical Mass is committed to supporting this effort and standing with the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Event Details<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Date:<\/strong> Saturday, January 24, 2026<br><strong>Location:<\/strong> Los Angeles City Hall \u2014 232 N Spring St., Los Angeles, CA 90012<br><strong>Set\u2011Up:<\/strong> 8:30\u201310:00 AM<br><strong>Press Conference &amp; Die\u2011In:<\/strong> 10:00\u201311:00 AM<br><strong>Breakdown:<\/strong> 11:00 AM\u201312:00 PM<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transportation<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Parking around City Hall is limited and expensive. Participants are encouraged to ride, walk, or take Metro Line B (Civic Center\/Grand Park Station).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to Bring<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>SAFE will provide poster materials, but participants are encouraged to bring their own signs highlighting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Road safety<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responsible driving<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The need for protected bike lanes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The importance of meaningful action from city and state leaders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Standing Together<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LA Critical Mass<\/strong> is honored to join SAFE in calling attention to the ongoing crisis of traffic violence and advocating for safer, more equitable mobility across Los Angeles.
