The Fourth of July brings a powerful energy to Los Angeles Critical Mass \u2014 a night where independence, unity, and community take over the streets of our city. <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Every last Friday of the month, thousands of cyclists gather behind the lead vehicle as the American flags rise above the ride, creating one of the most recognizable sights in Los Angeles. The movement stretches from the front of the pack to the last cyclist in the back of the ride, capturing the scale and visibility of a community that continues to grow stronger together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Fourth of July is more than a holiday in Los Angeles<\/strong> \u2014 it is a reminder of the values that shape our city and the movement behind Los Angeles Critical Mass. Today, we honor independence, unity, and the shared belief that every Angeleno deserves safe, accessible streets. As we celebrate America\u2019s 250th birthday, we also celebrate the powerful community that rides with us month after month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most defining traditions of LA Critical Mass happens at the front of every ride. Our President and CEO, Lisa<\/strong>, leads the pack with USA flags mounted proudly on the back \u2014 a sight that has become iconic across Los Angeles. Those flags aren\u2019t just decoration. They represent visibility, resilience, and the freedom to move through our city without fear. They symbolize the right of every cyclist to be recognized, respected, and protected on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Month after month, cyclists gather behind those flags as they wave through Downtown, Mid- Wilshire, Hollywood, Mid\u2011City, and beyond. They remind everyone watching \u2014 from pedestrians to drivers to city officials \u2014 that cycling is part of Los Angeles\u2019 identity. They remind the city that independence isn\u2019t just a national value; it\u2019s a mobility value. It\u2019s the freedom to choose how we move, the freedom to reclaim public space, and the freedom to build community in motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On this Fourth of July, we celebrate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
