Los Angeles Critical Mass is a community of passionate cyclists who come together each month to celebrate cycling and advocate for safer streets. As fully self-supported volunteers, ride marshals, and support vehicles, effective communication and safety are essential to ensure the well-being of every participant.
Our Goal:
We aim to raise funds to purchase 18 commercial radios (Rapid Radios) for our volunteers and commercial safety lights for all support vehicles. These tools will enhance our ability to coordinate during rides, respond quickly to any issues, and ensure that everyone is safe and visible on the road.
Why We Need Your Help:
Currently, our communication relies on retail radios and we need commercial grade. We also rely on cell phones, which can be unreliable in crowded situations or when we are on the move. Additionally, having visible support vehicles is crucial for the safety of our riders. By equipping our team with:
Rapid Radios:
- Enhance Safety: Immediate communication can prevent accidents and help us respond to emergencies swiftly no matter the distance.
- Improve Coordination: Clear communication allows our ride marshals to manage the flow of cyclists, ensuring everyone stays together and follows the route safely.
Safety Lights for Support Vehicles:
- Increase Visibility: Bright, flashing lights will ensure our support vehicles are easily seen by other road users, especially in low-light conditions.
- Promote Safety: Enhanced visibility helps protect our cyclists and ensures that support vehicles can navigate safely alongside them.

Every dollar raised will go directly towards purchasing high-quality commercial radios and safety lights that will serve our community for years to come.
