LA Critical Mass Joins SAFE and Advocates Across LA for the 4th Annual Die‑In at City Hall

Honoring Lives Lost and Demanding Real Change. More than 250 people were killed on LA streets in 2025. LA Critical Mass joins SAFE and fellow advocates at City Hall to remember those lost and highlight the urgent need for safer, more equitable mobility across the city.

This event honors the lives lost to traffic violence in 2025 and raises awareness about the urgent need for safer streets across Los Angeles.

As of December 6, more than 250 people were killed on LA streets in 2025. This tragic number stands in stark contrast to the goals of Vision Zero, launched ten years ago with the promise of reducing traffic fatalities to zero by 2025. Instead, the program’s core components were weakened, underfunded, or removed — contributing to an 80% increase in traffic deaths over the past decade, disproportionately affecting pedestrians in underserved communities.

What the Die‑In Represents

A die‑in is a form of protest where participants lie down as if dead — a visual representation of the lives lost to traffic violence.

SAFE and its partners aim to gather 250 participants, symbolizing each life lost in 2025. LA Critical Mass is committed to supporting this effort and standing with the community.
