LA Critical Mass is issuing an important update regarding the Santa Barbara → Santa Monica Century Ride.
Amtrak has announced another round of Pacific Surfliner track maintenance scheduled for the weekend of September 19th, 2026. This is the same disruption that forced our previous reschedule, and the continued shutdown of the Surfliner corridor makes it impossible to safely and reliably coordinate transportation for the event.
Because this marks the second time the Surfliner maintenance has directly impacted the Century Ride, we are officially calling off the September date and placing the event on hold until rail service stabilizes.
The entire community is feeling the disappointment — cyclists, volunteers, and partners have been looking forward to this ride, and we recognize the time, preparation, and excitement that has already gone into planning for it.
We are currently evaluating October as a potential window for the rescheduled ride. As Amtrak releases new advisories, we will continue to keep everyone updated with accurate and timely information.
Thank you to every cyclist, volunteer, and supporter who has remained flexible through these changes. Your patience and commitment mean a great deal, and we remain focused on delivering a safe, organized, and memorable Century Ride once the Surfliner corridor is fully operational again.
