As October comes to a close, LA Critical Mass is preparing for one of the most exciting and meaningful rides of the year.
This month’s event combines community engagement, Halloween festivities, music, and the positive energy that has made LA Critical Mass one of Los Angeles’ most recognized cycling traditions.
Participants from across Southern California will gather for an unforgettable evening that showcases both the heart and spirit of our community. From a special partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to a Halloween costume dance party featuring DJ Vicious Lee and cash prizes, this ride promises something for everyone.
Partnering with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
One of the most meaningful moments of this month’s LA Critical Mass will be our special partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).
As part of this collaboration, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles will be welcoming LA Critical Mass as we make our way to the hospital during the ride. Hospital staff, caregivers, patients, and families will be eagerly anticipating our arrival as thousands of cyclists and participants make their way through the streets of Los Angeles.
While some staff, caregivers, and families may be gathered outdoors to welcome our community, many of the children will be watching from their hospital rooms and windows as LA Critical Mass passes by. For young patients receiving treatment, opportunities to experience large community events can often be limited. Our visit provides a chance for them to witness the excitement, energy, and creativity of LA Critical Mass from the comfort and safety of the hospital.
From colorful bicycles and festive Halloween costumes to the incredible sight of thousands of cyclists and participants riding together, we hope to bring smiles, excitement, and encouragement to children and families throughout the hospital. The sight of a united community rolling through Los Angeles can be incredibly powerful, especially for children facing medical challenges and the families who support them every day.
As we approach Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, don’t forget to look up. Throughout the hospital, children will be watching from their windows as LA Critical Mass arrives. We encourage every cyclist and participant to wave, smile, cheer, ring their bells, and show off their Halloween spirit. What may seem like a simple gesture to us could become one of the highlights of a child’s day.
While our stop at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles will be relatively brief, we hope it serves as a meaningful and uplifting experience for the children, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals who will be sharing that moment with us.

This year’s Halloween ride carries an especially meaningful purpose. Beyond the costumes, music, and celebrations, participants will have the opportunity to help create moments of joy and excitement for children and families at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles through a simple but powerful show of community support.
This partnership reflects what LA Critical Mass is all about: bringing people together, creating positive experiences, and demonstrating the power of community. We are honored to partner with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and look forward to creating a memorable experience for everyone involved, whether they are greeting us outside or watching from a hospital window above.
Halloween Takes Over the Main Break
After our visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, the celebration shifts into full Halloween mode.
This month’s main break will transform into a Halloween-themed dance party, bringing together cyclists and participants from across Los Angeles for an evening filled with music, costumes, laughter, and community spirit.
Whether you’re planning a spooky masterpiece, a hilarious character, an elaborate group costume, or a creative cycling-inspired design, we want to see what you bring to the party. Halloween has always been a favorite season for self-expression, and LA Critical Mass participants never disappoint when it comes to creativity.
The costume contest is open to all participants, and we encourage everyone to join in the fun regardless of age or experience. Costumes are not required to participate, but they’re certainly encouraged.
Cash Prizes for the Best Costumes
What’s a costume contest without prizes?
Throughout the evening, judges will be looking for the most creative, entertaining, original, and visually impressive costumes. Participants will have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes and special recognition during the event.
Potential categories may include:
- Best Overall Costume
- Most Creative Costume
- Funniest Costume
- Best Group Costume
- Best Cycling-Themed Costume
- Crowd Favorite
Whether you arrive as a movie character, superhero, monster, retro icon, fantasy creature, or something completely unexpected, this is your chance to show off your imagination and take home some Halloween bragging rights.
The goal is simple: have fun, be creative, and help create an unforgettable atmosphere for everyone attending.
DJ Vicious Lee Bringing the Soundtrack
No Halloween celebration would be complete without great music.
Keeping the energy high throughout the evening will be none other than DJ Vicious Lee, who will be spinning an electrifying mix of crowd favorites, dance tracks, classic party anthems, and Halloween-inspired hits.
As participants arrive at the main break, they’ll be welcomed by an atmosphere designed to celebrate the creativity, diversity, and positive energy that define LA Critical Mass.
Expect music, dancing, costume showcases, photographs, community interaction, and countless opportunities to connect with fellow cyclists and participants from throughout Los Angeles and beyond.
Whether you’re dancing in costume, relaxing with friends, or simply enjoying the atmosphere, DJ Vicious Lee will be providing the soundtrack for one of the biggest celebrations of the year.
More Than Just a Ride
For many participants, LA Critical Mass is about more than bicycles.
Every month, thousands of people come together to experience Los Angeles from a unique perspective. Participants represent every background, age group, skill level, and neighborhood. Some attend for advocacy. Others come for community, recreation, fitness, photography, social engagement, or simply the joy of exploring Los Angeles alongside fellow cyclists and participants.
Events like our Halloween ride highlight the diversity, creativity, and sense of community that make LA Critical Mass so unique.
One moment participants may be supporting a world-class children’s hospital and bringing smiles to young patients. The next, they’re celebrating together with music, costumes, and positive community engagement. That combination of purpose and celebration is what makes LA Critical Mass special.

As always, participants are encouraged to:
- Wear a helmet.
