On Saturday, September 12th, 2026, LA Critical Mass launches its next major endurance event: a full coastal Century Ride from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles, covering more than 100 miles of oceanfront terrain, disciplined pacing, and unified group movement.
This ride continues the evolution of our long‑distance program, bringing together cyclists from across Southern California for a challenge defined by organization, strength, and community.
Featuring CycleLifeLA
This year’s Century Ride proudly features a collaboration with CycleLifeLA, a long‑time LA Critical Mass staff member and respected figure within the cycling community. His dedication, consistency, and leadership have made him an essential part of the LA Critical Mass family. Highlighting him on this ride is our way of giving well‑earned recognition to someone who embodies the spirit, culture, and unity of LA Critical Mass.
Every registered cyclist will also receive an official LA Critical Mass Century Ride T‑shirt. These shirts are designed exclusively for this event and will be provided to all participants at check‑in. We want all cyclists wearing their Century Ride shirts throughout the event, creating a unified look that reflects the strength, spirit, and solidarity of LA Critical Mass as we take on this incredible journey together.
Coordinated Arrival from Los Angeles
To ensure every cyclist arrives on time and with ease, LA Critical Mass has confirmed one active morning departure on the Pacific Surfliner from LA Union Station:
- 5:00 AM – Pacific Surfliner
Fare: $32
This train arrives directly at the Santa Barbara Train Station, which serves as the official meetup point and the starting location of the century ride. Cyclists are encouraged to board early, secure their bikes, and use the train ride to prepare mentally for the day’s endurance challenge.
For those who prefer a more relaxed start, participants may travel to Santa Barbara on Friday, book a hotel or stay at a nearby campground, and meet the group at the station on Saturday morning. This option is ideal for cyclists who want extra rest and preparation before the rollout.

- Ride Departure: Between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM
Once the group launches, the formation will settle into a steady coastal rhythm, moving south along one of the most iconic stretches of the Pacific Coast Highway. The route features long straightaways, rolling terrain, clean ocean air, and panoramic views that make every mile worth the effort.
Gourmet Lunch Provided — Registration Required
LA Critical Mass will be providing a full gourmet lunch for all participants during the mid‑ride break. This meal is part of our commitment to elevating the quality, professionalism, and support of every endurance event we host.
However, to be eligible for lunch, you must be registered. Registration ensures accurate meal counts, responsible preparation, and a smooth, well‑supported experience for every cyclist.
Official LA Critical Mass Champion Ribbon Medal
Cyclists who complete the full Santa Barbara to Los Angeles Century Ride will receive the Official LA Critical Mass Champion Medal. This medal is awarded exclusively to cyclists who finish the route and represents the discipline, endurance, and commitment required to complete one of California’s most scenic and demanding coastal rides.
Award Ceremony
Cyclists will receive their medal at the Santa Monica Train Station, where support staff will present each cyclists with their medal in recognition of their accomplishment. It marks the completion of more than 100 miles of disciplined coastal riding — a milestone earned through unity, effort, and determination.

A Growing Tradition
The Champion Ribbon Medal continues a developing tradition within LA Critical Mass’s endurance program. Each medal becomes part of the expanding legacy of long‑distance achievement, and cyclists who earn it join a select group who have completed one of the most iconic coastal century routes in the state.
Support, Safety, and Formation Discipline
As with all major LA Critical Mass endurance events, the focus remains on:
- Tight, professional formation riding
- Full hydration support
- On‑route snacks and fuel
- Coordinated pacing and group integrity
Support vehicles will accompany the ride, providing coverage, monitoring, and assistance throughout the entire coastal route. No cyclist rides alone, left behind and no one is left without support.
Century Finish: Santa Monica Train Station
The ride concludes at the Santa Monica Train Station, located steps from the pier. This finish point marks the completion of the full century and provides an easy transition for cyclists heading home or celebrating with the group.
Crossing into Santa Monica after more than 100 miles of disciplined coastal riding is a powerful moment — a testament to endurance, unity, and the evolving professionalism of LA Critical Mass.
A Growing Legacy of Endurance
This September Century Ride builds on the momentum of our previous long‑distance events and reinforces the culture of strength and organization that defines today’s modern Critical Mass. Every cyclist who completes this route adds another chapter to our expanding legacy of endurance achievements.
